Sharing the Validation Burden

There is an over-arching requirement for forensic service providers to validate complex digital forensic processes (known as Method Validation), for example in order to achieve accreditation to ISO 17020, 17025 or generally to achieve best evidence. Every organisation is responsible for its own Method Validation and every Method you employ in your Casework will need to be Validated: we recognise that, in digital forensics, this is a huge undertaking.

However, the digital forensic tools employed around the world are often the same or similar. ValiD brings together the common elements of digital forensic tool testing and validation into one validation database and it is this commonality that makes it possible to share the Validation burden through use of ValiD.
